Here
are some tried and true suggestions for you both......
- Keep your love alive. Just because you are married now does
not mean the romance is gone, in fact, just the opposite - romantic
evenings together, special dinners, and never forget the art
of asking your sweetheart for a special date!
- Write your thank you notes. Do not procrastinate - your wedding
guests will love to receive this important little note from
you to know that their contribution to your wedding day was
appreciated.
- Change address at the Post Office, Bank and all utility services.
Don't forget licences, insurances or magazine subscriptions.
Send emails to all your friends and family with your new email
address!
- Have utilities connected for your new home. This includes
electricity, gas, and phone. And don't forget about the garbage!
- Scout out your new neighborhood. Locate police and fire stations,
as well as hospitals and gas stations. Also, be sure to find
the shopping areas nearest you.
- Establish joint bank accounts. If you have a cheque account,
order new cheques with both names on the account.
- Establish a budget for two.... It is important to know how
much income you have and where you can spend it. Solid budgeting
can save you from serious debt. Lots of great discussion and
planning now will save many tears later on...
- Find a safe place to keep your marriage license, and important
documents like Wills, References, Resumes etc.
- Start putting together your wedding album. Your wedding is
very special and should be preserved in a scrapbook / wedding
album. Don't put this off - start now!
- Have your wedding gown cleaned and preserved. Be sure to go
to the experts in gown cleaning. Your gown is not something
you want ruined. And remember, you get what you pay for!
- Order address labels. It's kind of fun to have both of your
names on a label. This is not necessary, but it's kinda cute.
